Round 1 - Kimbolton - 12/13th January 2014
Firstly on behalf of Aaron Charles Racing, I would like to welcome you too the new Website.
Aaron, after being out of MSA racing since 2011 but not visiting the Kimbolton circuit since 2010 has decided to make a comeback in 2014.
After some very successful testing later into the 2013 season, Aaron and his team which involves dad Mic and regular attender Keith Appleyard prove as we work hard together, we still have what it takes to front run and win races in the karting industry.
A lot of help and working close with director of NEWKART Nick Jest, has given Aaron the opportunity to make this comeback with such confidence in the new 2014 Octane kart and engine which is maintained by Nick himself. Saturday Practice at Kimbolton saw weather conditions with no rain but a wet track drying up towards the end of the day.
Throughout Saturday, Aarons pace was very good, straight away looking one of the fastest on track.
Sundays race day.
With a promising Saturdays practice, there was a confidence in the team that Aaron was going to be contending for the podium
Morning practice saw Aaron light up the timing sheets setting the quickest time from his rivals.
There was only two heats due to the daylight available and with 8 different classes attracting just over 160 competitors in the cold winter January.
First heat was successful making good start he then managed to get his head down pulling a gap of 2.958 seconds by the end of the race setting the fastest lap of 42.88.
Second heat Aaron again fought his way to the front making some good moves very quickly on his cold tyres, using this advantage managing to pull a 4.613 second gap, again setting the fastest lap of 42.63
The Final saw Aaron on pole, with a tricky start having his rivals sticking very close to the back of his bumper, Aaron had to play it safe and defend for the first 2 laps, he then made a break where he never looked back pulling a 5.78 second gap at the flag winning the final, again setting the fastest lap of 42.61.
A good successful comeback for Aaron and his team. Aaron would like to say a big thank you to his Dad, Keith, Nick, Ash and his Mum for all their support and help with different areas involved in his career.

Round 2 - Kimbolton - 8th/9th February 2014
After battling a chest infection for over 2 weeks from January into February, Aaron was on antibiotics and cough medicines to try and regain his full health in time for round 2 of the Kimbolton championship. Unfortunately the infection was on the mend but far from well.
After a discussion between Aaron and his Dad Mic, they decided to abort Saturday's testing in order to save Aaron's energy ready for Sundays race day.
Sundays race.
In the morning practice Aaron could only manage 4th quickest, with confidence that there was more time in the kart with a few minor adjustments.
Again due to the daylight, there was only going to be two heats available with a grand final.
First heat, Aaron was positioned in 7th place making a fine start to the race taking the lead after the first corner, Aaron pulled out a gap of 6 kart lengths but after 4 laps was caught by last years track champion Alex Rowley, making his move, putting Aaron down into 2nd place, Rowley never looked back as Aaron limped his way to the finish line just over 8 seconds behind.
A team discussion was in need and after a mistake with setup, Aaron, Dad (Mic) and team helper/supporter Keith Appleyard made a small but effective adjustment that would hopefully see Aarons pace return for the second heat.
Second heat Aaron started on pole, his start went to plan and after 3 laps had a gap of 30 kart lengths (half of the TKM straight) It started to rain after the fourth lap, Aaron had a comfortable gap and didn't need to push himself to the full potential, he just kept the kart on track with the rain getting heavier, Aaron crossed the line in 1st place also taking the fastest lap.
The final, Aaron was 2nd on the grid after tied points with Alex. The lights went green and with Aaron and Alex making a break from the rest of the group, It was going to be a tight close race, Aaron pushed the leader for the first 5 laps then made his move for 1st place on lap 6 through into the first bustop, from then on he never looked back crossing the line taking victory with the fastest lap also.
On behalf of Aaron, he would like to say a big thank you to his Dad, Mum and Keith Appleyard of Aaron Charles Racing also a big thanks to Nick Jest, Ash Sutton at Newkart/Octane/NJR for their given support.

Round 3 - Kimbolton - 8th/9th March 2014
Arriving at Kimbolton early Saturday morning ready for Practice, where this usually consists of Aaron and his dad, unfortunately due to Aaron's mum being ill, dad Mic was unable to stay and therefore he help set up and then had to leave.
It wasn't the same for Aaron testing on his own, but with a friend of Mic was there to make sure everything was okay if and when any needed help, fortunately no issues, setting the pace in most sessions with his main competitors following very close in every session where they were all dicing, it was just like racing.
Come Sunday morning, again dad wasn't able to be there, but Keith Appleyard who is apart of the team was there to support and mechanic for Aaron.
Aaron topped the timesheets by an astonishing margin, leaping away from the pack in practice a further 5 tenths quicker too the next competitor.
First Heat saw Aaron positioned on third place spot, on the first Lap both Aaron and Seed 5 Dominic Russell both made their move on pole man where he went on to make his move on Russell, side by side over the line, Russell got the better of Aaron, where they worked a gap of 3 seconds to the rest of the pack, Aaron crossed the line Pushing Russell.
Second Heat see Aaron Start on 12th, with Russell one behind, he had to make sure he was to better him in this race to Win pole for the Grand Final. the lights went green and Aaron had a blinding start crossing the line in 5th by the first lap, Aaron throughout the race kept his head knowing Russell was behind, making no mistakes Aaron crossed the line in 2nd overall but Winning his class, as the Veterans points are awarded different.
Grand final, due to one of the veterans scoring top points in his class, this put him on pole for the grid, Aaron had also won pole for his class but was put on second, a confused Aaron discussed this with the Race control director and explained this was not right, Aaron wasn't going to achieve any higher, so he put down where they had placed him. The lights went green and Aaron managed to keep his position in 2nd, for 14 laps Aaron followed race leader Gregg Finke who was in the veterans, they was both winning their Final, Aaron knew Russell was charging behind and had to do something about it so he made his move on Finke, who didn't want to give up the place which resulted in a collision where he ended up spinning out, Aaron took the Win by 1.70 seconds!
Aaron was so happy with this win as his dad wasn't to be there, all Mic could do was watch at home on the live timing with his partner Mandy (Aarons mum).
On behalf of Aaron, he would like to say a big thank you to his Dad, Mum and Keith Appleyard of Aaron Charles Racing also a big thanks to Nick Jest, Ash Sutton at Newkart/Octane/NJR for their given support.
